OKLAHOMA DIVORCE – I met him, a nice guy, he explained his role, and I said I wanted this done with the minimum of involvement of the legal profession on both sides because of cost. He agreed. I said that also timing was important to me I didn’t want to get letters saying “we are dealing with this and that” at a cost of hundreds of pounds. If I asked for something to be done then I wanted it done quickly and efficiently.
He ran through the procedure, the petition for divorce – giving grounds – like here I didn’t know you couldn’t cite your own adultery as grounds (I say this as this the one reason that is foolproof in getting a divorce through). Then that leads to the “decree nisi. After that you have to work out the financial settlement – this for me is a little easier because I don’t have kids – but then I think this is likely to be the subject of many other posts in the future. So with that all agreed you can then go to court to get them to approve your agreement and after that you can apply for the decree absolute.
With me so far, stick with it I am getting the feeling that this could take a long time!
