1975 Bridgend Carnival

Unlike the carnival in September 1974, the 1975 Carnival was held on a very warm July day. The carnival parade commenced at the Police Headquarters in Cowbridge Road, and proceeded to Newbridge Fields via Nolton Street, Caroline Street, Dunraven Place, Market Street and Derwen Road, then via Newbridge and Angel Street terminating at Newbridge Fields where a small fete type event was held.
In Dunraven Place this photo shows a group of employee's children representing the Barry GPO. A carnival float entitled "Wandering Gypsies" photographed in Angel Street.
A group of walking exhibits move into Dunraven Place. One of the very popular1970s girls marching bands in Dunraven Place.

Note the banner advertising Bridgend Show which was to be held the weekend following this carnival.

At Newbridge Fields the younger element line-up for the judging. One of the larger walking exhibits was one of the Bridgend Scout Groups whose tableau "Dr Who" was very well organised.
